Let’s Talk Beauty Blender – Love it or Hate it?

bbI have to admit that I was very skeptical about the beauty blender, but it turns out that I love it. It is very easy to use and does create a flawless look to my foundation and tinted moisturizers. It is a bit expensive for a makeup sponge, but it is a product that you can wash and keep using. The BB website does say that the sponge will eventually (around 3 months or so) wear out, and you will need to purchase a new one. I have started to notice that my sponge isn’t quite a springy anymore, but it still works fine for now, and I will probably get a new one soon.

How to use it:

It is best to use the Beauty Blender damp, as it will absorb less product. You simply squeeze the BB under running water about 10 times, until it grows in size. I like to apply the foundation in small dots on my face, and then gently dab the BB to blend it. When you are finished, just set the BB on top of the plastic container (or into a clean glass) to dry. If you’d like to see it in action, check out this video by TiffanyD.

How to clean it:

My biggest gripe about this product is that it does become stained with foundation after use. There are some products that will cleanse and remove stains, but I thought that they were too expensive. In truth, you really just need a gentle cleanser or liquid soap. I found that the best way to get the stains out is to let the BB dry all day (or even overnight) and then gently work in some of my face cleanser. Once I have worked up a bit of a lather, I will slowly add water and keep pinching and working the stains out. This technique has worked pretty well for me!

What do you think?

Let me know what you think about this product! Have you tried any of the dupes out there? I have seen the Target and Sonia Kashuk sponge applicators, but never tried them.

  1. i was really tempted to pick up a pair during the sephora sale… but in the end, i just couldnt justify spending $30+ for it….

  2. I’ve been flip-flopping on whether to buy it or not. I’m so curious now that I’ve read your post. I’ve also seen some other brands—same concept but cheaper in price. Maybe I’ll give one of those a try before splurging on the real thing!😉
